Welcome to the transition page in your Beginning Screenwriter Course.
Lesson 2 should be in your inbox in less than 90 seconds.
It takes just a little more than a minute for the automations inside ConvertKit (my email newsletter service) to receive your request, get their act together, and send you the next lesson.
I have literally sat and timed it with a stopwatch.
It clocks in anywhere between 45-90 seconds.
Why the variable times? I don’t know!
But this is what I am going to do.
I am going to take the opportunity to add a bit to each lesson. More flavor than anything else. If it was vital, it would already be in the lesson.
But it should add additional context.
I am going to share with you some of the stories of how I came to these conclusions over the years, and some experiences that I have had that affected how I see this craft that I have devoted my life to.
I never really had a screenwriting teacher.
I read a couple books, one that was horrible and another (SCREENPLAY by Syd Field) that at least gave me a framework on how to approach this.
But no teachers.
I was all self-taught. And it was a vigorous pursuit.
I put my head down and I devoted myself to it.
And it earned me a few early shots.
When I started getting paid to write I was lucky to find a couple producers who mentored me and that’s what really propelled my growth.
